NULYP National Day of Empowerment (Civic Engagement Event)

  • Saturday, November 13, 2021

National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) chapters nationwide engage in a day of empowerment focused on entrepreneurship and economics each Fall. NDOE serves as the perfect opportunity to engage chapter members, affiliate networks, and the community at large on ways to support black and minority economics through the building and patronage of black-owned establishments and entrepreneurial efforts. Chapters made special efforts to partner with their Affiliates, Affiliate Entrepreneurship Centers, and Affiliate Guilds.

In 2015, 1,523 volunteers and community members engaged in this day of action to empower and promote black entrepreneurship.

$30,210 in financial resources and sponsorships was generated for these events, not including dollars spent in support of black owned businesses.

80 Partners engaged including, but not limited to: Black-Owned Businesses, National and Local Banks, Sororities & Fraternities, Local Chambers of Commerce, Media Outlets.

Event Highlights:

- Small Business workshops for new and aspiring entrepreneurs, providing knowledge on raising capital, marketing, and operational tools

- Black Owned Business fairs to spotlight local merchants and establishments, offering products and services

- "Cash Mobs", where YPs flooded minority and small businesses to provide an influx of customers and promotion

- Online campaigns to promote entrepreneurship, business planning, and local black owned businesses
