Self-Love: A women-led conversation about self-care and women's physical, emotional, and mental health, hosted by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Inc. Young Professionals.

Self-care describes the actions we might take to improve our physical health, manage stress, or help us feel happier. Self-care can include anything from eating well and getting enough sleep, to practicing meditation or taking a vacation. Some women have trouble making time for themselves because of commitments to their families and community.

Join us for a conversation about the importance and the ways that you can make time for yourself.

She is passionate about housing advocacy for unhoused folks and believes in working to dismantle oppressive systems and replace them with community lead systems of equity.  She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and her M.S.W. in Social Work from Washington University. She currently specializes in clinical mental health and public policy and is co-authoring a paper for publication.  Her social work philosophy can be summed up by this quote from Aboriginal activist Lilla Watson, “If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”

She loves integrating western science with eastern wisdom, and believes in helping clients become more conscious and centered individuals in addition to helping them heal. She uses evidence-based mind-body methods that help clients heal the root of their struggles by integrating her advanced training in IFS, somatic psychology, TRE, and mindfulness.

La’Crassia Wilderness established Butter Love by L.C. in 2014 and has been selected for numerous awards, including a WEPOWER’s Dream of Change business support grant and a Launch Program grant from Ladies Who Launch. She has combined her love for ingredient mixing and nature in the creation of high-quality body products, sourced almost completely from St. Louis. From body butters and milk baths to lip balms and face masks, she creates products by hand in her home studio. “At first I was just trying to make myself happy,” she says, sharing that she struggles on and off with depression. “I created a body butter consistency that I really, really loved—that healed my body. I had no intention of selling it.” After that, a friend’s feedback inspired L.C. to build her products into a business. “I’m working to heal, connecting the skin, spirit, and natural world.”
